April has sprung! This month we’ve got a lot to celebrate and we hope you can join us. Blooming below is a list of 8 things to do that sum up life on the island. Experience our history, culture and food and add these events to your calendar!


See a Concert!

We’ve got the music this month in Key West! Whether you’re bringing back old memories with the Beach Boys or jamming to bluesy Top 40’s with The Revivalists you’re guaranteed a good time in the cool night breeze, under the stars. Prefer the bar scene with easy access to drinks and restrooms? Check out the Afro Roots Concert series blessing multiple venues with their cuban sounds. Or, blaze over to The Treehouse’ s only wrap around balcony on Duval and Greene St for a 420 Fest in the clouds. In addition to irie performers and rasta vibes, they’ll be supplying food, fresh cut coconuts, and more for purchase. Various dates through April–please follow links for more info.


3rd Annual Little White House Easter Egg Roll

Dress in your best presidential whites and enjoy a **FREE** event with fun for the whole family! Come meet the Easter bunny, join the Easter egg hunt, listen to live music & so much more on Saturday, April 6th.  Strolling on the lawn will make it easy to understand how Key West became the location for the original presidential vacation house.

 The Cow Key Channel Bridge “Race”

Don’t break a sweat in this zero-k, 300 foot run. The Cow Key Bridge Run is a hilariously fun event bringing people of all ages and paw sizes to participate and feel accomplished crossing the finish line. If anything, it’s a good excuse to party and dress up. This year’s theme is “Pirates of the Cowibean.” Key West at its finest. A post-race party is planned at the Rum Row at The Gates Hotel. Live music, food trucks and libations will re-energize any “exhausted runners” — and glittering “Golden Calf” awards will be presented to all the winners. April 7, 2019 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, register in advance!


 Taste of Key West

The 23nd Annual ‘Taste of Key West’ will roll onto its new site, Mallory Square, on Monday, April 15th, from 6 to 9 p.m. A benefit for AIDS Help, the 3-hour, open-air event promises a bounty of beverage and palate-pleasing plates at the famous “Home of the Key West Sunset”. Gates open at 6 p.m. for FREE general admission. Foodies can stroll edibles and drinkables, including seafood, tropical and Caribbean flavors, European delicacies, vegetarian dishes and more and buy tickets based upon what looks best!


A Steamy “Prince Tribute” Burlesque Show!

Key west burlesque pulls back the purple Vail in an epic tribute to one of the greatest recording artists of all times! Erotic City: a burlesque tribute to the Artist Prince is a celebration of the life and music of this amazing musician. Tatah Dujour and the Key West Burlesque dancers take to the stage to perform to all his greatest hits in the Backroom of Sidebar, 504 Angela St., April 6, 13, 20 & 27.


Mote Marine Laboratory’s 9th Annual Ocean Fest

Join Mote on April 13 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at NOAA’s Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center and Truman Waterfront. Underwater and outdoor enthusiasts, eco-travelers and families are encouraged to celebrate the marine environment as we explore conservation exhibits, view and purchase wares from local artists and vendors, experience touch tanks, and listen to live music all while raising funds for coral reef research and restoration.

Every April we are taken back to 1982 when the Florida Keys tried to secede from the United States. The Conch Republic days have events happening all over the island. With activities ranging from wacky bed race to a lighthearted sea battle featuring tall ships, the Conch Republic’s 35th 10-day birthday party showcases the independent and eccentric spirit that characterizes the Florida Keys. Conch, arguably are most notable ingredient here in the Florida Keys, comes in the form of a fritter on our food tour. Eat and drink other famous dishes particular to our region like Cuban cuisine, rum, and of course Key lime pie!
