This funny musical tells the story of how the Florida Keys took on the Feds back in the early 80s. A historical story so preposterous that you couldn’t have made it up if you tried! Four actors and a piano tell the story. It will be an evening of song, dance, and plenty of flags — which is in truth HOW the Conch Republic began! Apr. 19, 2017 – Apr. 28, 2018, 7-8:30pm.
Celebrate Conch Republic Days
Every April we are taken back to 1982 when the Florida Keys tried to secede from the United States. The Conch Republic days have events happening all over the island. With activities ranging from wacky bed race to a lighthearted sea battle featuring tall ships, the Conch Republic’s 35th 10-day birthday party showcases the independent and eccentric spirit that characterizes the Florida Keys. Apr. 21, 2017 – Apr. 30, 2017
Eat Conch on a Food Tour
Conch, arguably are most notable ingredient here in the Florida Keys, comes in the form of a fritter on our food tour. Eat and drink other famous dishes particular to our region like Cuban cuisine, rum, and of course Key lime pie!
